Since June 17, 2019, Canadians can apply for an international trademark through the Madrid Protocol. This application must be based on a trademark application or registration in Canada. The registration of an international trademark allows trademark owners to obtain trademark protection in several jurisdictions without having to file multiple national applications. The applicant must designate the member parties for whom he/she wishes protection
